About This Car:
This 1949 Willys Jeepster is a modified example that is powered by a carbureted 318ci Chrysler V8 paired with a Torque-Flite three-speed automatic transmission. The truck was repainted its current shade of red during a body-off refurbishment in 2012, and additional modifications include independent front suspension and a solid rear axle from a 1980s Dodge Diplomat, front disc brakes, a dual exhaust system, aftermarket black vinyl seats, a RetroSound stereo, and a Hurst shifter.

The body was separated from the frame, disassembled, and stripped to bare metal prior to a repaint in its current shade of red in 2012. Rust repair was reportedly carried out at that time, and a replacement black cloth top with side curtains was also added. Brightwork includes chrome bumpers, trim, twin side mirrors, and dual tailpipe finishers.

Aftermarket steel wheels wearing dog dish hubcaps and beauty rings are shod with whitewall tires, and a matching spare is housed in a chrome cover out back. The suspension was reportedly sourced from a Dodge Diplomat and consists of an independent front end and a leaf-sprung solid rear axle with a 10-bolt differential. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs up front and drums at the rear.

The cabin features aftermarket front bucket seats and a Rugged Ridge rear bench upholstered in black vinyl along with matching carpets and two-tone red and black door panels. Modifications include a Hurst Pro-Matic 2 shifter, a RetroSound head unit, a center console with cup holders, and a VintageAir heater.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel with a Willys horn button fronts a red-painted metal dash. Centrally-mounted Dolphin instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, ancillary gauges, and warning lights. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads just over 4k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 318ci Chrysler V8 features a four-barrel Edelbrock 1406 carburetor as well as Mopar Performance finned valve and air cleaner covers, a Dodge Dakota radiator with an electric cooling fan, and a dual exhaust system with Turbo mufflers. A 30-amp circuit breaker was added to the starter in the fall of 2020, and the seller states that the fuel tank was replaced in 2017. Paint pitting is noted on the underside of the hood.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Torque-Flite three-speed automatic transmission, reportedly sourced from a 1984 Chrysler Fifth Avenue. K-frame crossmembers have been added.
