Ad write-up from who I purchased the car from on 03/21/2018:
Offered for sale is an absolutely amazing example of the BMW 3.0CS. Built on the same E9 platform as the legendary 3.0CSL this variant was produced between 1972 and 1975 and was a very important car in establishing BMW as a real player in the automotive world. After World War II BMW needed a way to set themselves apart from the more established car companies such as Ford and Volkswagen and managers decided their calling card would be performance. This car set the benchmark for well sorted handling and balanced controls, they are very special and have become extremely valuable because these are genesis for the direction the company been moving ever since. This particular 3.0CS has a very special history, the original owner had the car right up until just over a year ago when he sold it to a very close family friend. The car has been incredibly well preserved since new and when the 2nd owner took possession he wanted to make sure he kept up with its maintenance so late in 2016 at 57,069 miles the vehicle had a major service ($10,000+ worth of work) that included: Removing the transmission, oil pan, valve body and kick down cable. Teardown valve body, fabricate new kick down cable, adjust cable, adjust chokes, adjust valve clearances, re-jet idle/mains, install Pertronix ignition system, replace fluids/filters, replace radiator hoses/clamps/coolant, remove aux fuel pump/install 1 main electric fuel pump/run new lines/fittings/filters, adjust timing, fine tune carbs, install new air cleaner, rewire/organize electrical systems, run vacuum lines, new spark plugs, new oil/filter, and a new battery. At 56,491 miles it had a new clutch kit, new torque converter, gaskets, seals, and sealing rings and filters. The engine/transmission/chassis are all original and the mileage is absolutely original confirmed by years of service records showing a linear and honest progression on the odometer.
About This Car:
I sold this car to a local car guy in San Diego, California about 18 months ago and I just got the car back. I have the Original Window Sticker and service records of work performed on the car. The Window Sticker shows “Allison Bavarian Motors” in Sunnyvale, California as the first dealership that sold this car originally. The story is that this car has always been a California Car since new. It has full Tool Set, Jack, Spare Tire, Window Sticker, Service Records, Air-Condition and Power options. Please see list of Standard and Optional Factory Equipment listed above. The odometer currently is showing 58,961 miles. This is such a beautiful BMW 3.0 and would be a great example to add to a collection or to drive and enjoy. Please call with any questions. We look forward to showing you this beautiful BMW.
